A back boiler sits behind the fireplace — usually behind a gas fire — and provides central heating and hot water for the home. Like any gas appliance, it needs regular servicing to stay safe and in working order.

Annual servicing of a back boiler checks the appliance itself, the flue and ventilation, the gas supply and safety controls, and looks for signs of wear or corrosion. You'll be told about anything that needs attention.

When Replacement May Be Needed
